Accurx Scribe Alternatives for UK Private Clinics (2026)

Accurx Scribe is built for NHS general practice: it costs £0.40 to £0.50 per registered patient per year and saves to EMIS and SystmOne. Most private clinics have no registered list and run a private PMS. Alternatives include Motics (our product), Heidi, Tandem and Lyrebird. For UK private clinics, Motics is the stronger fit: it files notes into Cliniko, Nookal and Meddbase, keeps data in the UK and starts free, with Starter at £19 a month.

Why Accurx Scribe rarely fits a private clinic

Accurx Scribe is priced for NHS practices: a practice with 10,000 registered patients pays £0.50 per patient per year, about £5,000 a year or £417 a month, for unlimited scribes, with one-click saving to EMIS and SystmOne. But the price is based on a registered list, and Accurx's pricing page sells self-serve only to practices by list size. A physio, podiatry or private GP clinic usually has no registered list and runs a private PMS, so neither the pricing nor the integration applies.

What to look for instead

  • Your PMS. Filing notes straight into Cliniko, Nookal, Meddbase, TM3, Semble or WriteUpp saves more time than any feature.
  • A pricing model that fits your roster. Per-seat plans suit full-time teams; shared credit pools suit clinics with part-time associates.
  • UK governance. UK or EU hosting, medical device registration, DTAC and a clear policy on audio retention and model training.

Which Motics plan fits

  • Free (£0): 25 credits a month for Scribe and Chat, around 1 Scribe note or 10 chats a day. No card required.
  • Starter (£19 a month): 110 credits for a solo clinician, around 5 Scribe notes or 50 chats a day. No contract.
  • Team (from £98 a month: £49 per clinician, minimum two): 352 credits per clinician in one shared clinic pool, unlimited users, and the Phone, Email and Billing agents. Part-time associates don't need their own seat.
  • Scale (from £290 a month: £145 per clinician, minimum two): 1,320 credits per clinician, plus the Audit agent and compliance workflows, clinic usage analytics, priority support and guided onboarding.
  • Enterprise (custom): for multi-site groups, with SSO and advanced roles, and procurement and security review.

What the comparison shows: Accurx's per-patient pricing and EMIS/SystmOne saving don't carry over to a private clinic. Motics is built for that gap: notes file into Cliniko, Nookal and Meddbase, patient data stays in the UK, and one credit pool with unlimited users covers Scribe, Phone, Email and Billing. Prices are ex VAT and annual billing is 15% cheaper; model your own clinic with the calculator on the pricing page.

Motics Scribe Agent

That’s us
Best for
UK private and allied-health clinics on Cliniko, Nookal or Meddbase that can't use list-based NHS pricing
Pricing
Free (25 credits/month), Starter £19/month (110 credits), Team from £98/month (£49 per clinician, minimum two; 352 credits each), Scale from £290/month (£145 per clinician, minimum two). About 1 credit per Scribe note. Ex VAT; 15% off annually.

Motics is a UK-built clinic AI suite. The Scribe Agent drafts SOAP notes, treatment plans, referral letters and patient summaries from ambient capture or dictation, with physio-first templates covering objective measures and exercise prescription, and files them into Cliniko, Nookal or Meddbase after clinician review. The same credit pool runs the Phone Agent (AI receptionist), Email and Billing agents, and on Scale an Audit agent that reviews clinical notes for quality and CQC readiness.

Pricing is credit-based: about 1 credit per note, a free plan with 25 credits a month, Starter at £19 a month for a solo clinician, and Team from £98 a month (£49 per clinician, minimum two) with unlimited users sharing one pool. Patient data stays in the UK, audio is deleted within 48 hours, the Scribe Agent is MHRA-registered as a Class I medical device, and patient data is not used to train AI models.

Disclosure: Motics is our product and this page lives on our site. Every competitor fact is taken from the competitor's own website or help centre, read on 10 October 2026, and anything we couldn't find there is marked "not published" rather than guessed.

Lyrebird Health is an Australian-founded AI scribe whose UK site says it is built for UK NHS trusts, GPs and specialists. Beyond notes it offers documents and letters, a document sorter and practice management features. Part-time clinicians can get discounts of up to 50% at checkout, and registrars a larger discount on Pro.

Its UK compliance page says data is stored in the United Kingdom (with model inference running transiently in the EU), that it is registered with the MHRA as a Class I medical device, Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certified, DTAC compliant on an internal assessment and compliant with DSPT, and that data is never used to train an AI model. Its UK integrations page lists Best Practice and Gentu (Australian systems) plus Epic, Oracle Health and Meditech; it doesn't list Cliniko, Nookal, Meddbase, TM3, Semble, EMIS or SystmOne.

How we chose

Every fact about Accurx, Heidi, Tandem and Lyrebird on this page was read from that vendor's own website, pricing page, help centre or vendor-supplied marketplace listing on 10 October 2026; the sources list below links each page. Where a vendor doesn't publish something (a price, VAT treatment, a certification, where data is hosted), we say "not published" instead of estimating it. Prices are quoted as the vendor states them; we haven't converted other currencies. Motics prices come from our own pricing page and are ex VAT.

Motics is our product. Each product gets a review card: Motics with strengths and limitations, the others with key features and limitations, all taken from the vendors' own pages. Vendors change prices and features, so check their pages before you buy. If you spot anything inaccurate, contact us and we'll correct it. Product names are trademarks of their owners; Motics is not affiliated with or endorsed by any vendor named here.

Frequently asked questions

Can a private clinic use Accurx Scribe?

Accurx prices Scribe per registered patient per year and sells self-serve by practice list size, with integration to EMIS and SystmOne. It doesn't describe an offer for private clinics without a registered list. If your clinic runs Cliniko, Nookal or Meddbase, Motics files notes there directly and prices by usage rather than by list size.

How much does Accurx Scribe cost?

From 40p per patient per year, banded by list size: £0.50 for 1 to 14,999 patients, £0.47 for 15,000 to 89,999, £0.43 for 90,000 to 799,999 and £0.40 for 800,000 or more, with unlimited scribes. Larger bands are sold through sales. VAT isn't stated. Checked 10 October 2026.

What's the cheapest Accurx Scribe alternative for a private clinic?

It depends on the pricing model and your roster. Per-seat plans charge for every clinician: Heidi Scribe Plus is £45 and Tandem Pro £59 per user a month billed annually, and both have free tiers. Motics charges for usage instead: a Free plan (25 credits a month), Starter at £19 a month for a solo clinician, and Team from £98 a month ex VAT (£49 per clinician, minimum two) with unlimited users sharing one pool, so part-time associates don't need a seat each. To compare for your own clinic, use the calculator on the pricing page.

Is Tandem the same as Accurx Scribe?

Accurx Scribe is powered by Tandem's technology, per Tandem's news page. Tandem sells its own plans directly (free, or Pro at £59 per user a month billed yearly) with EMIS Web, SystmOne and Semble integrations. Tandem stores data in European data centres.

Which alternatives integrate with Cliniko?

Motics files notes into Cliniko, Nookal and Meddbase. Heidi lists Cliniko on its Practice (£65 per user a month billed annually) and Enterprise plans. Tandem and Lyrebird don't list Cliniko.

Do private clinics need an MHRA-registered scribe?

AI scribes that generate clinical documentation are increasingly treated as medical devices, and registration is a useful assurance signal. Motics and Lyrebird state MHRA Class I; Tandem states Class IIa under EU MDR. Heidi's UK compliance page lists DTAC and DCB0129/0160 but doesn't state a device class. Record your choice and the vendor's evidence in your DPIA and clinical safety records.
